PACKAGE DESIGN

Starbucks beverage packaging design

This project introduces a new canned iced coffee line for Starbucks, featuring bold, flavor-driven designs for Mocha Cookie Crumble, Matcha Latte, and Cinnamon Dolce. Each can uses distinct colors and illustrations to reflect the ingredients and mood of the drink, while maintaining brand consistency through the iconic Starbucks logo and green top.

Tools:

To redesign a new line of Starbucks most popular cold beverages by using different colour schemes and illustrations to perfectly echo each flavour.

purpose

Target audience

The target audience will be focusing on both genders aged 17-50, as the concept for this business is mainly for those who are fans of caffeinated drinks and for those who drink non-caffeinated drinks.

Design strategy

Taking advantage of patterns and unique shapes and mini images to create the design of the cans.

Solution

Matcha - Using leaves as the background and bottom as the design.

Cinnamon Dolce - Applying cinnamon sticks for the bottom while using other spices as the pattern for the can.

Mocha Cookie Crumble - Since Mocha is the base of the drink, using coffee beans with a light opacity as the background over a dark coffee colour, while the bottom will be a unique shape that will look like whipped cream.

colour

Each beverage has its own colour palette according the its flavour, so taking advantage of these colours will perfectly support the design for each flavour. I aim to manipulate the shades of each colour so that they won't overlap on each other and become invisible to the human eye.

typography

The Starbucks word mark, will be written in the Bodoni font because to me, Starbucks is really expensive and fancy (in a way), so using a font to define that and its popularity would be advantageous for this design. As for the rest of the details, it will be written with the Copperplate font so it can readable over the background design.

challenges

Picking the perfect type pair or at least a perfect type style to write the details of the packaging.
